Flash the Cash in Bath

Feeling Flush? 3 Ways to Flash the Cash in Bath

8 February 2019

If you have a huge special occasion to celebrate, are feeling flush or simply want to indulge yourself, come to Bath. While there’s something for everyone and all price ranges in the city, there are also plenty of luxury things to do in Bath – perfect for those ‘push the boat out’ occasions.

Here’s our roundup of the most special things to do in Bath when budget isn’t too much of a concern…

  1. A Champagne hot air balloon flight

Drink in spectacular views over Bath while you sip a flute of the fizzy stuff with a private Champagne hot air balloon flight. It’s beyond romantic (and perfect for anniversaries, birthdays and popping the question), as you get the balloon to yourself with your very own pilot. Your balloon will take off whenever the air is stillest, either in the morning or evening – this means a beautiful sunrise or sunset flight. You’ll see the whole of the city and the countryside beyond from above, being able to see for miles around and snap amazing photographs.

Your exclusive balloon ride is one of those luxury treats in Bath that really should be savoured, which is why flights last around 3-4 hours for the round trip.

It costs around £325 per person for a private Champagne balloon ride from Bath Balloons. They take off from Royal Victoria Park, very close to our Park View, Marlborough Heights and Royal Crescent Prospect apartments.

  1. Shop designer brands at Jolly’s

Jolly’s in Bath, now owned by House of Fraser, is one of the oldest department stores in Europe. From this beautiful building on Milsom Street, Jolly’s has been a much-loved retailer of designer, international and exceptional quality brands for over 100 years.

It’s where you’ll find luxury brands such as Chanel, Giorgio Armani, Estee Lauder, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana and many more, as well as a cappuccino bar, skincare treatments and a hair and beauty salon. It’s the ideal place to enjoy a little retail therapy and pampering, and to splash the cash.

Jolly’s is but a short stroll from both our Queen’s View and Gay Street House properties, so very handy if you’re staying nearby.

  1. Dine at Menu Gordon Jones

Regularly rated as Bath’s best restaurant on TripAdvisor and the Bath Life 2018 Best Restaurant winner, Menu Gordon Jones has to top the list of the most special things to do in Bath. This intimate restaurant (which only has 10 tables – so book in advance) only serves a carefully crafted tasting menu at £55 per person for six courses (dinner) and £50 per person for five courses at lunch. This price doesn’t include the matched wines, chosen to complement each dish.

Highly respected chef Gordon Jones, who was formerly the head chef at Bath’s Royal Crescent Hotel, has created an adventurous menu and an immersive experience for his guests. The menu is based on ‘surprises’ in everything from the taste to the presentation. It’s not just a meal, but an experience not to be missed.

Menu Gordon Jones is on Wellsway just outside of the city centre.
