Where to Celebrate National Champagne Week in Bath

21 September 2018

The week we’ve all been waiting for is nearly here! From 1st to 7th October, it’s National Champagne Week 2018 and the bars and restaurants of Bath are certainly celebrating in style. Here’s our roundup of the best places to indulge in a fresh, crisp flute of the fizzy stuff.

The Pump Room

National Champagne Week in Bath just wouldn’t be the same without checking out the incredible Champagne menu at The Pump Room, which overlooks the hot springs of the ancient Roman Baths. The Pump Room restaurant is famous for its grand architecture and décor, which makes those enjoying an afternoon tea or a light lunch feel like they’re in the pages of a Jane Austen novel.

What really stands out at The Pump Room, however, is its wonderful list of wines and Champagnes. The line-up includes Searcys Cuvee, GH Mumm Cordon Rouge, Taittinger Brut Reserve NV, Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut NV and Laurent-Perrier Rosé. All are available by the bottle of course, but you can also enjoy a slightly more affordable option by ordering your fizz by the glass.

If you prefer sparkling wine (we won’t tell anyone), check out the Greyfriars Brut, Bel Star Cuvee Rosé and Nyetimber NV Cuvee from West Sussex.

The Montagu Bar and Champagne Lounge

Is there anything more glamorous-sounding than a Champagne lounge? That’s what you’ll find at the magnificent Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa, which serves up a selection of the very best Taittinger Champagne along with wines and some spectacular signature cocktails.

The Montagu Bar at the Royal Crescent is right next to our spacious, beautifully decorated Georgian holiday property, the Royal Crescent Garden Apartment. If you’re staying here, there’s no need to worry about finding a taxi if the fizz has gone to your head.

You’ll also find other Bath Holiday Rentals apartments close by, including Catharine Place View, Margaret’s View and Catharine Place Garden Apartment.

The Piper Heidsieck Rooftop Champagne Bar

If enjoying National Champagne Week in Bath doesn’t sound decadent enough, how about sipping your fizz under the stars? That’s the experience you’ll have at the Piper Heidsieck Rooftop Champagne Bar, which is atop The Mint Room Indian restaurant on Lower Bristol Road.

With plush sofas, great views and a fabulous selection of drinks, this spot is well worth a visit – especially if the weather plays along.  You can even enjoy a Champagne dinner from just £55 a person, which includes pairings of Champagne cocktails with delicious Indian food. We even spotted this amazing cocktail on the menu – Louis Royer VSOP cognac mixed with Brut Champagne topped over a brown sugar cube soaked in aromatic bitter. Wow!

The Mint Room is not far at all from our Green Park Garden Apartment if you’d like to stay nearby, it’s just across the river and a short walk to the sights and sounds of the city centre.

Enjoy this year’s National Champagne Week in Bath, but remember to drink responsibly!
