The Property

A treasure chest of memories, this captivating Grade II, three story, four-bedroom house once belonged to a WWII nurse. Its inviting and engulfing presence would have undoubtedly offered refuge in times of uncertainty.

The lounge is situated on the ground floor to the right of the main entrance. There are 2 triple sofas and a double sofa, as well as plenty of tables and lighting. The large Smart TV is wall-mounted above a large desk with chair. All channels are available through the TV apps and Netflix can be enjoyed by signing into your account. There is also a PlayStation (PS4) with a few games for keeping the kids (and big kids) entertained. For the musically talented there is also a guitar for group sing-a-longs (before 10pm please).

Down a flight of stairs leads you to a large kitchen/dining area and converted vaulted bathroom. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for a night in around the table, which can seat up to 8. There is a large fridge (with filtered water facility) and separate freezer, a wine fridge, electric oven, induction hob, microwave, coffee pod machine and washer/dryer. Housed behind one of the cupboards is a large water tank ensuring plenty of water during your stay. There is a door off the kitchen leading to the railway track.

A vaulted room off the kitchen has been converted into a bathroom with w.c., sink and free-standing oval bath.

The 4 bedrooms and 2 further family bathrooms are located on the first and second floors of the house. Bedroom 1 comprises either 2 singles bed (2’6” W x 6’3”L) which can be zipped together to make a 5’ king bed. There is a corner unit in the room due to the location over the stairwell. This unit has been converted into a vanity area with mirror, light and hairdryer. In the hallway outside is a narrow wardrobe. Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds which can be zipped together to make a 6’ superking bed. There is a large chest of drawers, separate wardrobe and a couple of original sash windows filling the room with light. Further along the hallway is a family bathroom with large walk in shower, w.c. and sink with storage underneath.

Up the stairs to the 2nd floor where you will find bedroom 3 which is almost a mirror image of bedroom 2. Zip and link beds providing either 2 singles or a 6’ superking bed, chest of drawers and wardrobe. Bedroom 4 has 2 single beds. Please note, the beds are slightly narrower at 2’6” wide instead of 3’ but are a standard length. There is a chest of drawers and a wall-mounted shelf with hanging rail. Opposite this bedroom is another family bathroom. Very spacious with a large walk-in shower, w.c., and a double sink unit with plenty of storage throughout the bathroom.

Only a five minute walk to the prestigious Great Pulteney Street, and a leisurely ten minute walk to the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey, as well as the main shopping and dining streets in Bath, this house is perfectly positioned to showcase the best Bath has to offer.

The house is located by the Bradford railway line, close to the Holburne museum, which hosts many exhibitions during the year and was opened to the public in 1893. In 2011 a modern wing was attached to the back of the museum with inside and outside seating for dining or just coffee. Behind the museum is Sydney Gardens, the only remaining pleasure garden in Europe and well worth a stroll through the park, play a game of boules or tennis, or take a stroll along the Kennet & Avon canal, offering coveted access to some of the most beautiful canal trips in Bath, rendering its location unrivalled.

You also have Henrietta Park around the corner and the Bath recreation ground, where you can watch Bath play rugby during their season. Located close to the property you have a Tesco Express convenience store. Alternatively, within a 5 to 10-minute walk you have Waitrose supermarket, the Pulteney Arms and the Boatman pubs, and several fabulous restaurants. In the centre of Bath, you have Victoria Park where you can play tennis, ice skate in the winter, botanical gardens, BBQ pits, view the famous Royal Crescent, and watch the hot air balloons take off.

This place is the perfect location for exploring Bath. It’s so close to the city but also near beautiful gardens, the river and canal for walks. It has a really luxe feel too as the bedrooms and bathrooms are beautifully decorated. Highly recommended.

Lovely stay, thankyou !
Sydney Wharf Sarah - 2024-02-11
We had a nice stay. The house has everything a family would need. A nice 10 to 15 minute walk to downtown. We felt very safe during our stay. There's a nice grocery store right up the street. The house is located right next to the train tracks & the noise from the train really wasn't that bad for us. Personally I liked seeing & hearing the train everyday & there's a great place to watch the train from the kitchen downstairs! The host was very helpful, easy to communicate with. The only difficulty we had was the home has alot of stairs & was a little difficult for my parents to get around. I would certainly stay here again! Thank You!
Sydney Wharf Jeremy - 2023-10-24
Awesome place, great location, 5 of us stayed for 4 days. Would be great to have a kettle as the Quocker tap doesn’t supply hot enough water for drinks. No parking permit so we parked 30 minute walk away as most are short stays. Train track isn’t too bad…
Sydney Wharf Jonathan - 2023-10-03
We very much enjoyed our stay at Sydney Wharf.
Great home, beautiful maintained character, lots of space, amazing kitchen extremely well equipped with anything we could possibly need.
Very comfortable beds, great quality linens, great location for walking into Bath centre.
Sydney Wharf Rodica - 2023-08-02
It is truly a fabulous property, in a wonderful part of the city. There is so much good about the property it is hard to condense in a short review. Clean, spacious, welcoming, equipped with literally EVERYTHING a group or family would possibly need. The trains that run at the back of the cottage are not at all distracting, rather they add to the ambience. Private and quiet, everyone slept soundly in the high quality beds and linens. To stay in this delightful location adjacent to the Kennet and Avon canal is a treat not to be missed. This property is a 10, the thoughtful attention to detail and the amenities offered, made it so comfortable that we did not want to leave. A resounding YES!
