These small cobbled streets off a main thoroughfare into Bath once provided stabling and carriage stores to grand houses. Now a row of neat architect designed modern homes, they retain some of their tucked away charm with the background buzz of the city just visible. This Bath holiday home arranged over 2 floors is beautiful, fresh and bright. The entrance lobby with coat hooks and a console table leads into a smart well lit corridor with doors to a ground floor double bedroom with en-suite, a spacious rear shower room and a separate laundry and utility room. Upstairs is an open plan kitchen and living room and another twin (or double) bedroom. Light floods in from three Velux windows which are electronically controlled, each with a wall mounted remote. Much of the modern wall art not surprisingly features hummingbirds. There are Sonos speakers in the living area and both bedrooms, and USB charging points in each room.

The Ground Floor
The spacious double ground floor bedroom is set off by plush Sara Miller curtains and cushions in striking smoky blues and hot pinks. It has a large window with views of Bathwick St Mary’s church. There are a couple of roomy bedside cabinets with drawers, along with a large alcove cupboard fitted with a hanging rail and deep storage shelves. The smart compact en-suite shower room is tiled in grey and silver stripes and has a corner shower, a hand-basin with storage under, a sensor operated illuminated mirror with shaving socket to one side and a WC.

Also on this floor is a large contemporary shower room with stylish patterned grey tiling and wall art. There is a large walk-in shower and long fitted bathroom unit incorporating a hand-basin, WC, storage cupboards and plenty of shelf space for toiletries plus a heated wall mirror. There is an additional open storage unit for towels or toiletries.

Next to this is a spacious laundry and utility room with a combined washer/dryer and clothes airer etc.

The First Floor
On the first floor is another large peaceful bedroom in plush grey and warm yellow with a striking rose feature wall and wall mounted TV. Two single 3’ beds can zip and link to become a 6’ super-kingsize bed. There is a small wardrobe with drawers under and a long console with storage baskets under and an easy chair. His-and-hers waffle robes to use during your stay add an additional luxury touch.

The sunny citrus and warm grey living area has a dining table for 4, and a deep bay window with views of the church, Bath stone terraces, mature trees and glimpses of the main thoroughfare. There is a 3-seater sofa, an armchair, rattan cushioned bench and a coffee table for drinks. There is a large 55 inch smart TV with Netflix, wi-fi and a Sonos sound system.

The ‘U’ shaped contemporary fitted kitchen in taupe and sparkled grey has a 4 ring gas hob, an electric oven, a microwave, a small dishwasher and a medium sized fridge above worktop level, along with a separate freezer. A Nespresso coffee machine is also provided for that morning wake-up call. There is a round dining table with 4 chairs and plenty of cupboard space stacked with fresh white crockery.

There is parking for 1 car right out front the property with a wall-mounted electric car charger. Alternatively the Bath Spa train and coach stations are a level 15-20 minute walk away.

The owner of this property is open to accommodating one well-behaved small to medium size dog, ideally short haired.

Hummingbird House is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Bath's city centre while being only a 5-10 minute level walk from its abundance of shops, museums, tourist attractions and restaurants. A walk past the iconic Holburne Museum (Lady Danbury's aristocratic residence in "Bridgerton") and along Great Pulteney Street (the handsome Georgian film setting for "Vanity Fair") leads into the town centre. The terrace and cafe at the Holburne Museum make a perfect spot for coffees or light lunches, backing onto Sydney Gardens which in turn leads to the lovely Kennet and Avon canal– perfect for a scenic walk or cycle. Alternatively, there's the lovely Royal Victoria Park with indoor tennis courts, mini golf, winter ice rink and a large childrens' adventure park. You can relax on the grass with a picnic while watching hot air balloons take off on summer evenings, or try the 18 hole Approach golf course with its panoramic views.

Waitrose supermarket is within a ten minute walk, while a Tesco Express is a few minutes stroll away up Bathwick Hill. You can hire boats or punts from Bath Boating Station on Forester road (within a 10 minute walk of the property) or head for The Rec, riverside home of Bath Rugby and the setting for Premiership rugby matches throughout the season just a 10 minute walk away. There is also Bath's Thermae Spa, with its heated outdoor rooftop pool where you can relax and take the waters, the Komedia comedy club, and a choice of theatres.

This is great place to stay in Bath due to its quiet location very near the centre of town. It is five minutes walk to the centre as well as being near a good museum, a lovely park and canal and riverside walks. The parking space just outside is a real bonus as parking in Bath is very limited and expensive. It was surprisingly quiet for its city location. There is plenty to do within walking distance including the central shops, pubs and restaurants as well as all the Bath visitor attractions. Bath is the perfect city to spend Christmas and Hummingbird House is the perfect location. The house is about a 20 minute easy walk from the train station though you can also take a taxi. We were able to arrange to leave our bags at the house early and were thrilled to see some Christmas decorations when we arrived. We loved being able to walk into Bath for groceries, dinner, shopping, exploring, etc. We appreciated having a parking space and did rent a car to be able to drive to Stonehenge, etc. The only negative aspect of the house is that both bathrooms are on the ground floor which requires the people sleeping in the upstairs bedroom to negotiate the stairs at night. The MBR is on the ground floor. Everything was very clean and communication with Bath Holiday Rentals was superior.

My family and I stayed at this property in Bath for four nights and found it comfortable and well laid out. The two bathrooms were great (although the water temperature in the showers was a little cool for our North American tastes). The kitchen was well stocked and we used all of the appliances without issue. The arrival package was very welcome and included cereal and milk as well as a supply of coffee pods - very much appreciated. We had a few comfortable and cozy nights in and there was room for everyone to watch Bridgerton and spot the sites we had seen that day. The space is very well located and only a short walk from the train station and the main attractions. We were able to walk past some key Jane Austen street names on our way to the historic centre!! The beds were comfy and the place was super quiet. Recommend highly.

I had a lovely stay with some friends in this lovely apartment. The apartment itself was beautiful and accross 2 floors. When we arrived it was lovely and warm and cosy. Parking space right outside and only a short walk to city centre, probably about 10 mins and a flat walk too. The apartment was beautiful and extremely clean. We really appreciated the thoughtful touches added by the host such as: milk and elderflower fizz left in the fridge for us and also some chocolate, biscuits and cereal left on the counter for us. Being a pleasant 10 minute walk into the centre, the location is perfect for exploring Bath. Behind the house is a park with a playground and plenty of space to walk. It provides easy access to the canal for a longer walk or run. Generally this is a peaceful place to be especially in the evening. There is little traffic noise from the main road and very few people passing by foot or by car. There is a hair salon next door which may be handy for some! The house is decorated and furnished to a high standard. It can get a bit warm upstairs. Open the remote controlled skylights in the evening to let the heat out. We had a wonderful stay and would not hesitate to stay again if we’re in the area.

This was our first trip away since last summer and we used it as a base to see family nearby. It did not disappoint. The only downside was that we had to come home!

We’ve just returned from a lovely 3 night stay at the property. We’ve had a lovely time. The house is was immaculate in terms of cleanliness and hygiene. I had taken a host of cleaning products with me (I’m a bit OCD about things like that!) but needn’t have bothered as everything (high end products) was provided. The quality of furnishings and fixtures were again to a very high standard and nothing looked old or tatty. The kitchen was highly equipped but we only used it to make tea/coffee and breakfast as we were out at lunchtimes and ordered take aways in the evenings (thanks for the list of popular and recommended take aways too!). The app that I’d downloaded before staying had all the info needed and there was a folder with a printed copy in the kitchen on arrival (along with some lovely welcome treats!). Easy access into Bath and not to far to Longleat and Wooky Hole where we made day trips too. Thank you for an amazing stay and we will certainly return soon.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. The warm welcome we received throughout the booking process was also reflected in our check in and overall stay. The property was ideally set out and equipped to please two teens and parents looking for a relaxing break. Add to that the perfect location - minutes from the attractions of Bath City Centre and also from the canal and river, allowing us to explore on foot and by bike - and you have all the ingredients of a fantastic staycation We definitely want to come back to Sydney Mews!

Hummingbird House was perfect! Spotlessly clean, well equipped and a great location too! Added bonus of having its own private driveway. Everything was close to hand a short 5 minute level walk into the city centre with all its attractions Roman Baths, Bath Thermae Spa, Bath Abbey, Pump Rooms etc and lots of lovely places to eat. I would highly recommend using Bath Holiday Rentals they are very professional company.

The property is fitted out to a very high standard, with comfortables beds, and within easy walking access to Bath, and convenient parking next to property.

Particularly appreciated the welcoming items, milk, cereals, tea coffee etc. (and the bottle of wine).

Altogether made for a very enjoyable stay for two couples, with convenience of one en-suite bedroom and separate bathroom with shower.

One minor point, the sofas could be a bit more comfortable.

“Alexia is an excellent host and this property is outstanding. We arrived at midnight to find that the unit was lit, warm and our self check-in went smoothly. The apartment has been recently remodeled and renovated and is exactly as described in the listing. We found a delightful welcome hamper and even fresh milk in the fridge. The kitchen is quite complete and serious cooking may be done. China, cutlery and kitchen equipment is of high quality and appears to be quite new. Basic kitchen items like cooking oil, flour, salt, pepper, etc. were there. The design and decor is modern and comfortable. The rental is situated in a quiet location within easy walking distance of Bath and its many attractions; there is a convenience store close by and a good supermarket in the area. I can enthusiastically recommend this property to the Airbnb community and look forward to returning sometime in the not too distant future.”
