This gorgeous country retreat is set in a peaceful Somerset valley, on the outskirts of the village of Combe Hay and just 4 miles from Bath. The vast holiday home sleeps 14 guests across seven bedrooms and is perfect for a large family get-together or a special celebration with friends. From the retreat, enjoy days out to the National Trust’s Stourhead (23 miles) or Longleat Safari Park (17 miles).
The Grade II-listed Georgian villa boasts a myriad of original features, complemented by statement furniture, sumptuous interiors, and original artwork. Inside, the vast kitchen has all the equipment and space needed to cater for a large group, along with a breakfast bar. From the kitchen area, French doors open onto the terrace. An open doorway from the kitchen leads through to a bright and airy breakfast room with an oak dining table and bench seating. From this room, a staircase leads to two bedrooms and a shower room in the former hayloft. The sunny orangery provides an alternative dining spot. In the evenings, relax in the cosy lounge, where a collection of plush seating is arranged around a Smart TV. Alternatively, gather in the drawing room to warm your toes by the open fire. For after-dinner drinks, congregate in the bar room, where you’ll find comfortable armchairs nestled around a roaring wood burner and TV. Completing the ground floor is a utility/boot room. A winding staircase leads to the first floor and two fabulous bedrooms, both with en-suite facilities. A further three bedrooms and two bathrooms are under the eaves on the second floor. Outside, away from the house, is a games room for competitive evenings together. Within the grounds, enjoy al fresco gatherings on the southwest-facing terrace, where you’ll find outdoor furniture and a BBQ. A second terrace provides another spot for relaxation, with sun loungers and stone seating – steps from here lead to a raised lawn. You’ll also have access to a large field perfect for playing outdoor games or special events. To the front of the house is an 18th-century walled garden. Ample private parking is available on the driveway.
Journey into Bath to amble amongst its beautiful streets, lined with honey-coloured houses and historic buildings. Perhaps join one of the walking tours, to be sure you don’t miss any architectural highlights, such as the Royal Crescent or The Circus.
