our guide to takeaway in bath

Your essential guide to takeaway food and drink options in Bath

6 April 2020

As the UK coronavirus lockdown continues and we’re all stuck indoors, it’s good to know that there are still ways of getting your hands on a treat or two here in Bath. You can’t pop out to your favourite local restaurant, but you can still take advantage of brilliant takeaway services.

If you’re living or self-isolating in Bath, you’ll have a choice of delivery services from many fantastic local businesses. Under government rules, takeaway and delivery services are permitted to continue. A number of Bath’s shops, restaurants and cafes have continued deliveries, or made new delivery options available to customers.

All are taking steps to keep their staff safe and protect the public, with measures including online advance payments to ensure no-contact delivery. As long as these safety measures are in place, placing occasional delivery orders is a great way to support small businesses in Bath through this difficult time.

If you’re looking for a takeaway tea or a way to get essentials or treats delivered to your door, here are just a few of your options:

Ma Cuisine

If you’d like to stock up the fridge or freezer with delicious French gourmet ready meals, get in touch with Ma Cuisine. Dishes including wild mushroom soup, hake with risotto, beef bourguignon and a choice of vegetarian meals are all available to order online. There’s even free delivery in the local area for people who are self-isolating or vulnerable. Menu and ordering details available at https://macuisine.co.uk/

The Fine Cheese Co

Get through lockdown with a fridge full of the finest traditionally made cheeses from the Fine Cheese Co. If you spend £50 or more, delivery is free. All details at https://www.finecheese.co.uk/

Bath Veg Box Project – in collaboration with The Circus Restaurant

The Circle Restaurant on Brock Street is closed for the time being, but the owners have teamed up with the Bath Veg Box Project to act as a distribution hub for veg box deliveries. To order a £16 veg box bursting with fresh fruit and veg, simply call 07843643112. You can also add staples such as butter, cheese, bread, eggs and milk to your order.

Larkhall Farm Shop

Another way to get your hands on fresh veg without having to leave the house is to place an order online with Larkhall Farm Shop. Demand is high so you’ll need to be patient, but the shop is working hard to fulfil all orders.

Abbey Ales

Bath’s oldest brewery is offering free local deliveries of bottles and beer-in-a-box if you live within a 10 mile radius of the city centre. Check out the full selection here.

Thoughtful Bakery

If you have a BA1 or BA2 postcode, you can place an online order for delivery of bread, pastries, fruit and veg and essentials with Thoughtful Bakery. Bear in mind that demand is huge for this service, so if you are able to collect safely (the bakery is operating social distancing policies) you are advised to do so.

Takeaway food services

Want a day off from cooking? Many of Bath’s restaurants are now offering takeaway food for delivery or collection. Take a look at their websites or social media for details on how to order.
