Why conference delegates prefer serviced apartments to hotel rooms

An example of this trend in action is the annual conference organised by the Association of Serviced Apartment Providers (ASAP) itself, which has revealed that the majority of its 400 delegates will choose serviced apartments. This is quite a change from the days when UK and international visitors would stay in the nearest 5-star hotel, so why are serviced apartments proving so irresistible?
