Where to see Santa’s Christmas Float in Bath this December

25 November 2022

If you’re visiting Bath this December, you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a very special festive sight. Santa’s Christmas Float is back, and it’s visiting the city and surrounding areas on a number of occasions in the run-up to Christmas.

The float is fast becoming a festive tradition in Bath. Adorned with brightly coloured lights, it depicts a charming snowy scene featuring Santa and his reindeer. There’s even smoke and other magical effects promised as part of this year’s display. It’s a magical sight once the sun sets, and a real treat for children who spot it during trips to the city.

Santas’s Christmas Float is also raising money for good causes, with Suicide Prevention Bristol being the chosen charity for 2022. It’s designed and made by the talented Jerry Davis, and driven through the city by Adrian O’Connor. In charge of entertainment is DJ Krazy Entertainment’s Callum Smith.

Where to see Santa’s Christmas Float

You have three chances to catch sight of the float in Bath this December. It’s visiting the city on 3rd, 12th and 21st December, weather permitting. Here’s some info on each of the three routes, so you can get yourself a front row seat:

  • Route 1 on Saturday 3rd December

Santa’s Christmas Float will be kicking off the festive season with an appearance at the Orange Grove in the city centre. It’s the perfect location for people visiting the Bath Christmas Market. It will stay put for an hour so you can snap the perfect photo, before setting off towards Bathford at about 6pm.

  • Route 2 on Monday 12th December

The float’s second visit to Bath involves taking a brand new route for 2022, setting off at 6pm. It’ll start at Bear Flat not far from Alexandra Park, before heading up towards Oldfield Park.

  • Route 3 on Wednesday 21st December

This will be your last chance to see the float before Christmas, as it travels from Twerton to Combe Down. It’ll be stopping in at Odd Down on the way, travelling at a slow pace so as many people as possible can see the float and take their photographs.

If you miss Santa’s Christmas Float while it’s in Bath, don’t worry. It’ll be popping up in all sorts of other locations near to the city, including Paulton, Midsomer Norton, Westfield, Radstock, Keynsham – and of course, Bristol.

The float itself will be officially unveiled on Facebook live on Saturday 19th November at 6pm. You can see the grand unveiling and keep up with all the latest routes, updates and sightings on the Santa’s Christmas Float Facebook Page.
