Where to find the best vegan food in Bath

10 February 2020

If you’ve absolutely smashed Veganuary and you’re keen for more delicious vegan treats, head to Bath.

SomersetLive called Bath ‘the vegan capital of the UK’ in 2019 due to over a hundred vegan-friendly eateries and lots of local searches for the best vegan food in Bath. So, where should you eat when you visit the city? Here’s our guide to the best of the best…

Nourish

A 100% vegan café, Nourish in Larkhill (just outside the city centre) serves up freshly prepared, internationally-influenced food. The vibrant menu is matched by colourful interiors and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Visit and you’ll drink in stunning local artwork while tucking into delights such as Thai Laksa with coconut tofu, Buddha bowls and an amazing-sounding raw salted caramel cheesecake. There’s even a kid’s menu so you can bring the family.

Chapel Arts Café

This popular venue for alternative music, art and culture in Bath also has a fabulous plant-based menu for breakfast and lunch. Expect a changing selection of mouth-watering hot dishes, fresh seasonal salads and flatbreads, alongside organic coffee and much more.

Beyond the Kale

Known for having arguably the best falafel wraps in the city, Beyond the Kale is a produce shop, deli and café all in one. You’ll find it at Green Park Station, home of bustling weekly markets and right next door to our Green Park Garden Apartment. You can take your pick from rainbow salads, wraps, tasty burgers and a choice of scrumptious raw cakes. And don’t forget your shopping bag if you fancy taking some fruit and veg home with you.

Roots & Shoots

This adorable plant-based café and courtyard is very handy for Bath Spa rail station, so you can pick up a ‘facon’ sandwich or vegan sausage roll straight off the train. Roots & Shoots is also known for its taster boxes, which give you a little bit of everything – including salad plates, mac and ‘cheese’, hearty stews and much more.

Acorn

We’ve covered lunch, so now it’s time to focus on options for 100% vegan evening meals. One of the best vegan restaurants in Bath is Acorn, a bistro serving up exquisite, creative and award-winning vegan dishes. It’s a gourmet restaurant perfect for special occasions, but there’s also a great value set menu including the option to add a matching wine flight.

If you’re staying at our Hot Bath apartment, not only will you be within walking distance of all the major city centre attractions – but less than 4 minutes’ walk from Acorn.

Cascara

As well as being a belter of a coffee shop, Cascara also has an irresistible vegan food menu. You’ll be spoilt for choice with all day breakfast, dips served with their famous sourdough, soups, salad plates and the incredible Chickpea Melt Toastie. You’ll find Cascara on Upper Borough Walls, just across Pulteney Bridge from our Argyle Retreat and Argyle Upon Avon apartments. Stay close by and you’re bound to visit more than once!
