Wallace and Gromit workshop in Bath

Wallace and Gromit Model Making workshop comes to Bath this spring

22 April 2019

A unique activity for all ages is coming to Bath this spring, involving clay, hands-on fun and your favourite Aardman Animations characters. It’s a Wallace and Gromit Model Making Workshop, and it’s on at The Forum on Friday 31st May 2019.

There will be one-hour interactive sessions taking place all day at the former art deco cinema on the corner of Southgate Street and Somerset Street, at 12.30pm, 3.30pm and 5pm. During the workshop, you’ll learn how to make your very own Gromit from clay.

The event is run by Carrot Productions and Aardman Animations, the creators of Wallace & Gromit, and there’ll be experts on hand to teach you all the secrets of building a model and getting this long-suffering clay dog’s sarcastic eyebrow just right! You’ll learn more about clay animation or ‘claymation’ and get the chance to ask an Aardman Studios expert all of your burning questions. It’s fun, creative and all materials are provided.

At the end of the session, you get to take your Gromit creation home and practice animation using the Aardman Animate It! software.

The workshops are suitable for adults and children aged 7 and over, but all children must be accompanied by an adult and the tickets are the same price.

Wallace & Gromit’s Musical Marvels

The Gromit Model Making Workshops are planned to coincide with another exciting Aardman event coming to The Forum on the same day. Wallace & Gromit’s Musical Marvels, a brand new animation and live orchestra event, takes place at 2pm in the concert hall.

You’ll be treated to a fun and hilarious interactive show with new animations, live accompaniment by a full orchestra and lots of surprises too. Watch the hapless Wallace attempt to perform his musical masterpiece ‘My Concerto in Ee Lad’ – but you can bet that something major will go wrong!

It’ll be followed by a special screening of the Academy Award winning Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers, accompanied by the very same orchestra. Tickets start from £14.

This very special day of Nick Park and Aardman fun takes place at the end of the May half term holidays, so it’s the perfect place to take the kids before school starts again on Monday. Book in for a workshop before or after the show, and get ready for a fabulous day out in the heart of Bath.

The Forum is a wonderful venue to visit too. One of Bath’s largest, this concert hall and theatre boasts stunning art deco features and an enormous, grand ceiling. It hosts concerts and shows of all kinds, from ballroom shows featuring Strictly Come Dancing stars to plays, classical music performances and children’s entertainment.

If you’re planning a special visit for the weekend, stay with Bath Holiday Rentals at our apartment next to the Thermae Bath Spa – it’s just up the road from The Forum and you’ll be able to enjoy a dip in the spa during your visit.
