Treat yourself to a Bath spa day in 2022 – here’s where to go

3 February 2022

If you’d like to ease yourself into the new year with a spot of pampering, Bath is the perfect place to do it.

The UK’s original spa city, Bath’s natural hot springs have been used for public bathing since as far back as the Roman times. In fact, the city used to be named Aquae Sulis (the waters of Sulis) after the goddess the springs were dedicated to.

The most famous spa complex in Bath is of course the historic Roman Baths, which date from around 60-70 AD. But while you unfortunately can’t enjoy a dip there due to the water quality, there are plenty of other fabulous spas and pools to enjoy in Bath.

Here’s our roundup of the best Bath spa deals and packages in 2022…

Thermae Bath Spa

The most famous spa in Bath, this beautiful facility in the heart of the city centre draws its water from the mineral-rich hot springs under Bath. You’ll love the modern facilities, open-air rooftop pool, and huge Minerva Bath with whirlpool. Plus, the state-of-the-art Wellness Suite with Ice Chamber, aroma Steam Rooms, Infrared room and Celestial Relaxation Room.

New for this year at the spa is the Thermae Treat 2022 package, costing £85 per person. You’ll get a 2-hour spa session and full 50-minute treatment, choosing from one of the following packages:

  • A Reviver Back Massage and Facial
  • A Head and Foot Massage

You’ll also get complimentary use of a robe, flip-flops and towel. Find out more here

For couples and pairs of friends or family, there’s also the Twilight Package. Costing £100 for two, you’ll get 2 hours use of spa facilities and a meal in the Springs Café Restaurant. This is a brilliant chance to enjoy the open-air rooftop pool with views over Bath in the evening, where the atmosphere is pretty special.

The Spa at Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel

With a pool, relaxation room and fantastic outdoor hydrotherapy pool, this Bathwick spa in the Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel is perfect for a relaxing day out.

One of the best packages here is Afternoon Escape, costing from £89 per person. You’ll get a 25-minute ELEMIS treatment, full use of facilities and a delicious afternoon tea overlooking the tranquil grounds of the hotel.

The Spa & Bath House at the Royal Crescent Hotel

One of the most luxurious spas in bath, the Spa & Bath House offers five-star facilities including a Vitality Pool with massage jets, a heated Relaxation Pool, Sauna and Steam Inhalation Room.

For the full spa experience from £220 a person, the Serene Spa Day offers an aromatherapy massage of your choice, an Elemental Herbology facial, a lunch or afternoon tea and an hours’ use of the spa.

But there’s also a slightly cheaper option, a Half-Day Spa Day from £140 a person. This gives you an hours’ use of the facilities, a 1-hour treatment of your choice and lunch or afternoon tea.
