Pop-up cinema comes to Bath, complete with gourmet food designed by Rick Stein and Tom Kerridge

23 November 2017

If you’re both a film buff and a foodie, you’ll adore what’s coming to Bath this Christmas! If you can tear yourself away from the Bath Christmas markets, make a beeline for Royal Victoria Park for a brand new pop-up cinema complete with gourmet food.

Introducing the Gourmet Picture Company

The Gourmet Picture Company, a new pop-up cinema in Bath, will only be around for three weeks from 24th December all the way through to 7th January. A cosy heated marquee will be erected in Royal Victoria Park and kitted out with a big screen and snuggly sofas. Each two-seater sofa gets its own table, where incredible gourmet food and cockle-warming drinks will be served during a classic Christmas film. Blankets will be available if you get chilly!

Even more thrillingly, unique menus for each evening are being designed by renowned celebrity chefs. Rick Stein will be creating the dishes for movies screened between 14th and 24th December, then Tom Kerridge takes over from 27th December to 7th January. Both matinee and evening performances are planned, although organisers remain tight-lipped at the moment on what classic Christmas films will be shown.

Tom Kerridge, who helped to set up the Gourmet Picture Company along with three friends, told the Bath Chronicle:

“I’m delighted the Gourmet Picture Company is coming to Bath, a part of the world I know extremely well and has a real place in my heart.

“Royal Victoria Park is the perfect setting for a pop-up cinema like this one, and I’m excited to know that people will be tucking into some of my dishes, enjoying a drink or two whilst watching fantastic films in a beautiful setting.

“I can’t think of a better way to spend an evening in the lead up to Christmas. I know that Rick has some pretty special recipes up his sleeve as well. Everyone’s in for a right treat.”
