No summer holiday this year? Head to Bath on the Beach instead

20 July 2021

If your disappointed that your overseas beach break has been postponed due to the pandemic, here’s something to ease the pain just a little. A bar in Bath has popped up its own Caribbean island-themed beer garden, complete with golden sand, deckchairs and delicious cocktails.

Bath on the Beach is perfect for a touch of summer fun in the sun, especially as the UK braces itself for a heatwave. Described as ‘Bath’s most chilled out summer venue’, you’ll find the pop-up beach bar in the gorgeous Royal Victoria Park, right next to the Excel Tennis Centre.

This generous outdoor venue, surrounded by the lush greenery of the park, claims to be the biggest beer garden in the city. It’s open from 10am all the way through to 10.45pm at night, although opening times may be dependent on the Great British weather.

Food, cocktails and games

One of the best reasons to visit this Caribbean-themed party spot are the brilliant choice of refreshing, ice cold summer cocktails. This includes the Bath on the Beach signature cocktail, Beach Tea – an expertly made concoction of vodka, honey cascabel, lemonade and iced tea. There’s also tasty food like wood-fired pizza and loaded nachos cooked on site, and a choice of picnic benches and deck chairs perfect for drinking in the laid-back atmosphere.

But if you’re feeling energetic, you can also take part in a selection of fun games with your friends. Take your pick from ping pong, boules or adventure golf (available at the main Pavilion building nearby).

Bath on the Beach is completely free to get in, and you can either book a table or walk in on the day. If you plan on visiting as a group or holding your own summer party at the venue, you can get in touch with the organisers on the Bath on the Beach website in advance to arrange a pre-booked food and drink package.

Make a date with a deck chair at Bath on the Beach

If you’re planning to swing by Bath on the Beach for your next visit to the city, you’d better make it snappy. The pop-up bar is only around from 12th June to 8th August 2021, before all the soft, golden sand will be packed away until next summer.

Looking for somewhere to stay? Bath on the Beach is just a short stroll from many of our fabulous Bath self-catering apartments – including King’s Circus, Brock Street, Alfred Street and Monmouth Mews. So, you won’t have too far to go if you have a Mai Tai or two too many!

Of course, a beach bar in the UK – even on a gloriously sunny day – isn’t quite the same as lounging on the beach on a real Caribbean island. But it’s still a fantastic way to spend a sunny afternoon in beautiful Bath, so make sure you visit this pop-up summer hotspot before it closes for the season.
