New Year’s Eve in Bath 2019 – your guide to the best events in the city

13 December 2019

It’s not long before we not only see in a new year in Bath, but a whole new decade. It’s time to start planning your celebration, and you’ll be spoilt for choice here in the city centre.

Here’s our roundup of the best things to do in Bath on New Year’s Eve, from gourmet banquets to fabulous firework displays.

New Year’s Eve Ball

The Roman Baths and Pump Room

The most elegant way to see in the new year, the annual ball at the marvellous Roman Baths and Pump Room offers dinner, dancing and plenty of sparkling wine. The ticket price includes an indulgent five-course meal, live music, DJs and even an in-house casino, set to the torch-lit backdrop of the atmospheric Roman Baths before moving the party upstairs to the Pump Room.

Motorcity Gold – New Year’s Eve with Soul!

Komedia

Starting with the Krater Comedy Club NYE Special at 8pm, Komedia hosts one of the biggest and best NYE parties in Bath. You’ll be dancing from start to finish when Motorcity Gold kicks off at 10.30pm, seeing in the New Year with soul, dancing, glitz, glamour and non-stop fun. Tickets start from £15, with last entry at midnight.

NYE 2019 – Roaring Twenties

The Bell Inn

The Bell Inn, a hugely popular music pub on Walcot Street, is seeing in the start of the 2020s by looking back to the 1920s. They’re throwing a fabulous themed bash complete with live riot swing music, DJs, cocktails and of course, flapper-dominated fancy dress. Tickets are a very reasonable £20, so snap one up fast before they sell out.

NYE Live Music and Six-Course Menu

Green Park Brasserie

One of the best Bath restaurants for New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Green Park Brasserie offers a spectacular evening of gourmet food, live music and dancing. You’ll enjoy a six-course menu, prioritising seasonal, local ingredients, plus live music from jazz funk band GHQ and of course, a fully stocked bar. Book fast if you want to go, as this event is usually sold out by early December.

Berlin Philharmoniker: New Year’s Eve 2019

The Little Theatre Cinema

Now for something a little different, courtesy of The Little Theatre Cinema on St Michael’s Place. The art house cinema is showing a special screening of the Berlin Philharmoniker’s 2019 New Year’s Concert, broadcast live from the Berliner Philharmonie and featuring music from George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein and many more. It’s a must for music fans and better still, it screens at 4pm so there’s plenty of time to head out and celebrate afterwards.

Where to see New Year’s Eve fireworks in Bath 2019

While the skies of the city centre always light up on December 31st, one of the best places to see a spectacular fireworks display is Longleat Safari Park, just a 45-minute drive from Bath city centre.

And whatever your plans for New Year’s Eve in Bath this year, don’t leave it too late to book your accommodation. Bath Holiday Rentals has a fabulous choice of self-catering apartments in Bath city centre, but the city fills up fast on NYE so don’t delay!
