Local Business Spotlight: Taste of Bath

10 August 2018

Bath really is the home of amazing food. The city boasts a dazzling range of restaurants, cafes, bakeries, delis, bars, street food vendors and produce markets. There’s also a serious focus on locally-produced ingredients, many of which are unique to Bath and have become world-famous.

If it seems like there’s too much to tempt your taste buds all in the one weekend visit, one very clever local company Taste of Bath has neatly solved your problem.

Taste of Bath is a specialty hamper company, which aims to showcase the very best and most delicious food and drink the city produces. The business is relatively new, launched by retail expert Helen Rich in 2015. Since then, Taste of Bath has gone from strength to strength. There are now even plans in the pipeline to launch a Taste of Bristol!

Supporting Bath food businesses

Taste of Bath provides a fantastic way to support local food producers and chefs, as every Taste of Bath hamper contains products made or sourced within 15 miles of the city. This is the company’s mission:

“To create memorable, delicious gifts using the best of Bath’s local grub, whilst supporting small local producers”.

Choose a gift box or create your own

The most famous hamper in the Taste of Bath online shop is the Bath Box. This is essentially a Made in Bath hamper, as it features local products including Bath Soft Cheese, Bath Oliver Biscuits, Round Hill Roasted Coffee, Honey’s Cider and lots more.

Other popular hampers include:

  • Bath Crates – featuring a broad selection of delicious items, with sizes ranging from small all the way up to deluxe
  • The Boutique Gents Collection – featuring Electric Bear Brewing Co beer, hot date chutney, Bath Blue Cheese and more
  • The Boutique Ladies Collection – featuring hot chocolate, foraged elderberry jam, Honey’s Cider, Pickle Lily and pistachio milk chocolate
  • The Bath Cheese Feast – with delicious choices including the famous Wyfe of Bath Cheese, Bath Blue Cheese and accompanying chutneys and biscuits.

If you can’t decide on a product, you can use your own Bath hampers ideas to build a bespoke gift option tailored to the recipient. All hampers are beautifully packaged using recycled materials.

Wedding hampers

As well as Taste of Bath hampers for her and for him, the company now also has its own wedding shop. Here you can browse a range of hampers, from the Boutique Wedding Hamper complete with wine, cheese and ‘Mr & Mrs’ chocolates to the Sweet Treats Wedding Box, which contains a range of macaroons, cookies, fudge and more.

Want one for yourself?

Who says that these amazing-sounding hampers have to be a gift? If you’re staying in the city, perhaps with friends at a Bath Holiday Rentals self-catering apartment, you can order a cheeky hamper for yourself. This is a great way to sample the best local food without having to traipse all over the city, and it’s perfect for social occasions as you get a little bit of everything. Taste of Bath hampers can be delivered in as little as 24 hours, giving you plenty of time to enjoy locally-sourced treats before your break is over.
