Fundraising Circuit of Bath Walks 2021

Fundraising Circuit of Bath Walks planned for 2021 – join in and support local homeless shelter

10 April 2021

Once lockdown restrictions are lifted, Bath is set for a fun-packed year of events. The latest to be added to the calendar is the annual Circuit of Bath Walk, a family-friendly outdoor event to raise money for local homeless shelter Julian House.

What is the Circuit of Bath Walk?

The Circuit of Bath Walk is an annual walking route around Bath and some of its charming surrounding villages. Impressively, the event is now in its 20th year.

The event aims to fundraise for the Julian House hostel and domestic abuse refuge, which the charity says have been in high demand during the coronavirus crisis.

The full route is an enormous 20 miles, but participants aren’t expected to walk the full length of it – although they can if they’re up to the challenge! Most walkers prefer to choose their own start point and the distance they’d like to complete. There are 5 main checkpoints, with free shuttle bus services travelling between each.

The Circuit of Bath Walk heads through some of the most beautiful scenery in the countryside surrounding Bath. The route is made up of footpaths, fields, roads and hills, and travels through charming villages such as Monkton Combe, South Stoke, Upper Swainswick and Woolley.

Spring flowers and autumn leaves

This year, there will be two Circuit of Bath Walks – one on Sunday 25th April and another on Sunday 26th September 2021. The organisers are hoping to capture Bath’s natural attractions in all their seasonal glory, at two key times of year. This means a bright and breezy walk among the fresh spring blooming flowers, or a colourful hike amid autumn leaves and crisp countryside air. You can take your pick.

Having two events, and a long 20-mile route with participants spread out along it, also sounds like a very sensible idea from a COVID-safe perspective.

How to get involved

If you love the idea of getting out into Bath’s gorgeous countryside and supporting a very worthy charity at the same time, get involved.

You can join the Circuit of Bath Walk by heading to the Julian House website, choosing your preferred date and buying a ticket. Prices start from around £7, with proceeds going to support Julian House. Your ticket buys you entry into the walk along with a map and route instructions, fundraising and training support, access to the free shuttle bus on the day and a medal if you finish the full 20-mile route.

If you’ve snapped up your ticket, all you need to do now is start fundraising – and perhaps do a few practice walks to build up your fitness.
