Bath Reggae Festival

First ever Bath Reggae Festival planned for late summer

27 March 2021

The first ever Reggae Festival is coming to Bath this summer, with a new COVID-safe date (hopefully) of Saturday 21st August 2021.

The festival was originally planned for June 2021, but this date has now been pushed back in light of the government’s announcements relating to the gradual lifting of lockdown restrictions. The organisers said of the change on their Facebook page:

“We remain hopeful that well-managed, COVID-secure events can go ahead closer to the end of the year and we look forward to welcoming you to Kensington Meadows then.”

Bath is famous for its thriving festival scene, with its usual annual calendar packed with culture, music, food, arts and family-friendly events. Of course, all this changed in 2020 due to the pandemic. This is why it’s extra exciting to see brand new events starting to be announced, such as this – a huge open air reggae party held just outside Bath city centre. We can’t wait!

First acts announced

The lineup for the Bath Reggae Festival 2021 is a brilliant mix of established reggae icons, and exciting new talent. The acts so far announced include Maxi Priest, Aswad, Big Mountain, Wayne Wonder, Dawn Penn, Laid Black, Hollie Cook, Aleighcia Scott, Tashina Muzik and Shari.

Plus, there’ll be plenty of delicious Jamaican and Caribbean food and drink to try, from jerk chicken vans to rum cocktail bars. It’s a family-friendly event and children are welcome, and there will also be access for festival-goers with disabilities and service dogs where needed.

Here’s what the organiser’s website has to say about the event:

“From Kingston, Jamaica to Kensington Meadows, this is Bath’s very first annual reggae festival. Under one umbrella, people of all ages are welcomed for a taste of Caribbean culture, soundtracked by the music of island life. Expect reggae, lovers rocks, R&B and more, celebrating sounds both old and new with performances by seasoned legends and up-and-coming talent.”
