6 reasons you should make a beeline for Bath’s Green Park station

11 July 2022

If you’re planning a trip to Bath soon, there’s one hotspot you should absolutely visit – Green Park Station.

This former Victorian railway station has been transformed into one of the city’s most popular destinations for eating, drinking, shopping and events. Green Park Station is home to everything from acclaimed restaurants to artisan food producers, independent shops to fabulous coffee. And it’s all under one rather impressive roof.

Here are just a few of the many reasons we love it:

  • Bath Pizza Co serve some of the best pizza in the country (officially)

Bath Pizza Co has all kinds of plaudits to its name – it was named Independent Pizza Restaurant of the Year 2020, and came in the top 3 in the National Pizza Awards 2022. So, it’s safe to say that its pizza is seriously good. You can grab a slice on the gorgeous alfresco terrace at Green Park Station, a vibrant space offering a super social casual dining experience.

  • Outstanding markets at the weekend

At the weekends, the huge space inside Green Park Station is transformed into a bustling market hall. On Saturdays, the hugely popular Bath Farmers’ Market takes place. It’s been running since the 90s, and is famous for the exceptional local produce on sale. All the fruit, veg, meat, fish, cheese and artisan bread comes from within a 25-mile radius of Bath.

On Sunday, you can load up your shopping bags with treasures from a rotating selection of themed markets. These include the Vintage and Antique Market, Flea Market and a fabulous Contemporary Arts Market.

  • Huge suntrap terrace at the Green Park Brasserie

The sister restaurant to Bath Pizza Co is Green Park Brasserie, one of Bath’s best independent restaurants. This steakhouse and jazz bar is the social heart of the city, known for its cocktail happy hours and weekly live music. But where it shines in the summer is its fabulous terrace, perfect for sipping cocktails in the sun with friends and family.

  • Live music and festivals

In addition to live music four nights a week at the brasserie, Green Park Station is also a fabulous events venue. It hosts a number of events as part of the Bath Festival, and regularly showcases some of the best musicians in Bath and the South West.

  • Amazing coffee

If you only have a few minutes spare during your Bath trip, you must at least pop into Green Park Station for a quick coffee. The Express Café at the end of the South Platform serves arguably the best coffee in Bath. It uses top quality roasted blends from Wogan Coffee, a local producer just 10 miles from Bath.

  • Vinyl shopping at Resolution Records

If you’re a music lover that never turns down a chance to rifle through vinyl, there’s a new addition to the independent shops at Green Park Station that may interest you. Resolution Records is a newly opened store, which is already proving hugely popular due to its impressive vinyl collection. Some say it’s the best in Bath – but you’ll have to pop in for a rummage to see if you agree.
