If you love pasta, get ready for some serious hunger pangs. Bath has some exceptional Italian restaurants, many of which specialise in silky-smooth pasta, perfectly plump ravioli and sauces to die for.

We’ve rounded up some of best Italian restaurants in Bath, where you can get some of the finest pasta in the city. 

1. Sotto Sotto

According to locals, and some pretty glowing TripAdvisor reviews, Sotto Sotto serves up the best pasta in Bath. It’s handmade with obvious skill, and the restaurant prides itself on simple dishes showcasing the quality of the ingredients. 

Highlights of the mouth-watering menu at Sotto Sotto include Fettuccine Al Ragù, Linguine Con Gamberi and Cannelloni Con Funghi. 

The restaurant itself is charming, intimate and cosy, nestled in the vaults below North Parade Road. 

2. Ponte Vecchio

This riverside restaurant is arguably one of the best Italians in Bath for date night. The romantic rooftop terrace offers views over the River Avon and the famous Pulteney Bridge. This is Bath’s version of the famous Ponte Vecchio bridge in Florence, from which the restaurant gets its name. 

Dishes including Arrabbiata and Spaghetti Lo Scoglio with mussels, clams and prawns are all made with fresh pasta. Likewise, the Gnocchi Al Salmone is made with fresh, lighter-than-air potato gnocchi.  

Ponte Vecchio is a top choice all year round, but it’s best visited in the summer for al fresco dining on the terrace. It’s a taste of the Mediterranean in Bath. 

Stay at our Argyle Riverview Flat or Johnstone on the Weir and you’ll be virtually next door to the restaurant. 

3. Martini Restaurant

A traditional Italian trattoria run by Nunzio, Luigi and Franco, Martini is warm, inviting and the perfect place for authentic pasta dishes. 

There’s a wide choice of dishes to tempt your taste buds, including Linguine Con Granseola with crab meat and cherry tomatoes, plus Tagliatelle Con Polpette with slow-cooked meatballs in a rich tomato sauce. From tortellini and gnocchi to lasagne, ravioli and more, this restaurant is a pasta lovers’ paradise. 

Look out for the charming red-painted frontage of Martini Restaurant on George Street, not far from our King’s Circus and Alfred Street apartments. 

4. Aqua

This Walcot Street restaurant may not have a dedicated pasta menu, but its Italian-influenced à la carte selection does feature a number of pasta treats. You must try the Slow Roasted Ox Cheek Ragù with silky pappardelle pasta, or the Seafood Linguine with king prawns, calamari, and mussels. 

If you’re staying at our Old Orchard apartment just behind Walcot Street, you simply must pop into Aqua for dinner. 

5. Joya Restaurant 

Joya is known for being a steakhouse, but it also has a pretty impressive pasta menu too. All your traditional favourites are there, including cannelloni, lasagne, spaghetti carbonara and Bolognese. It may not be the most adventurous of pasta menus, but it covers all the classics along with house specials such as Linguine Joya with prawns, fennel, rocket and cherry tomatoes.
