Pie fans, rejoice! Pieminister opens its first Bath restaurant
28 February 2023If you’re a lover of a good old-fashioned pie, you’ll want to make a beeline for Bath. The much-loved and award-winning specialist pie chain Pieminister has finally opened its very first Bath restaurant.
The restaurant in the heart of Bath city centre officially opens its doors on Friday 10th February. It’s based on Westgate Street, taking over from popular fancy dress shop Rosie’s Accessories which sadly closed in the summer of 2022.
The Pieminister Bath team held a soft launch event on 8th February, where friends of the store could test out the menu in the brand new restaurant.
Now that the shop is open, visitors will be able to enjoy a full menu of hearty pie options. These include Pieminister favourites such as Moo and Blue, Moolin Rouge and Free Ranger. There’s also a mouth-watering starter selection, boasting the likes of kale and parsnip fritters, halloumi, crackling and honey mustard sausages.
Pieminister is known for its delicious meaty pies, but it’s also a great spot to take your vegetarian and vegan friends. There are always plenty of plant-powered options on its menus, including Heidi (goats cheese and sweet potato), Mooless Moo (jackfruit ‘steak) and Mock-a-Doodle (tofu ‘chicken’ with leek).
The décor of Bath’s newest pie hotspot is also worth a mention. The restaurant is decked out in pie-positive slogans such as ‘Live and Eat Pie’ along with giant illuminated pies. One unique feature is a huge upcycled bathtub light, with “Welcome to Bath” emblazoned on the side.
Who is Pieminister?
Pieminister now has a total of 16 restaurants across the UK, including in Manchester, London, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leeds, Cardiff and Birmingham. But the story of this hugely successfully comfort food brand all started in nearby Bristol.
The first ever Pieminister store opened in Stokes Croft back in 2003, and it still operates in the same location to this day. The company grew quickly, and there are now 5 places to tuck into a Pieminister special in Bristol alone. Speaking about the company’s humble beginnings and incredible success, founders Tristan and Jon said on their website:
“Day one we sold five pies (not a great start), but word spread fast and after two weeks there was a queue out of the door! Soon followed a stall at London’s famous Borough Market, then a stall at Glastonbury – a dream come true. Over the years we have grown and now employ over 200 people. We still make all our pies in Bristol and we still eat pies every day.”
If you’re already looking forward to your first Bath Pieminister experience, make sure you book a table to avoid disappointment. It’s a brand new eatery with lots of interest already, so you don’t want to miss out!
You’ll find the restaurant next to the Komedia comedy club, making it the perfect option for a night out. It’s also not far from our charming Queen’s View apartment, or our other self-catering Bath apartments in the city centre.
