All the Bath winners in the Bristol Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards 2022
19 December 2022After another fantastic year of hospitality, attractions and experiences, there’s no better way to round off 2022 than with a glitzy award ceremony.
Held on 1st December at the Winter Gardens in Weston Super Mare, the Bristol Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards 2022 was a celebration of the region’s best tourism businesses. It was a glamorous gala dinner for 200 guests, including the 50 finalists from across Bath, Bristol, Somerset and Exmoor.
Bath businesses were among the big winners on the night. In fact, a host of Bath favourites took home prizes, including a handful of newcomers to the hospitality and tourism scene. Let’s take a look:
Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award
Bronze: The Roman Baths & Pump Room
The first of three awards for Bath’s most popular tourist attraction, The Roman Baths & Pump Room narrowly missed out on the accessibility award to worthy winner Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm in Wraxhall.
Experience of the Year (Active or Learning)
Gold: West of England Falconry, Hawk Walk & Owl Encounter near Bath
If you’ve never visited the Hawk Walk & Owl Encounter in Newton St Loe, this recent award is a ringing endorsement. Located 15 minutes drive from Bath, West of England Falconry is a charity dedicated to education and the conservation of birds of prey. It’s also a brilliant place to take the family.
Large Visitor Attraction of the Year
Bronze: The Roman Baths & Pump Room
Another bronze for The Roman Baths, which attracts around a million visitors a year. And it’s recently undergone some exciting developments, including a newly excavated Roman Gym area and the launch of the Roman Baths Clore Learning Centre for schools and community groups.
Pub & Casual Dining Award
Gold: Corkage, Bath
This much-loved independent restaurant, wine and bottle shop is found on Chapel Row, close to our Queen’s View apartment. It serves a menu of creatively cooked dishes, made from locally sourced ingredients – accompanied by a fantastic wine list.
Restaurant of the Year
Gold: The Restaurant at No.15 by Guesthouse Bath
Bath came out extraordinarily well in the food and drink category of the awards, with The Restaurant at No.15 being named Restaurant of the Year. You’ll find this elegant yet easygoing restaurant on Great Pulteney Street, on the same road as our stunning Georgian Great Pulteney townhouse apartment. It serves what it describes as “comfort food, fun food and never-tried-that-before food”.
Small Visitor Attraction of the Year
Gold: West of England Falconry
Bronze: Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein
It was another win for West of England Falconry at Newton St Loe, but nabbing the bronze award was Bath’s newest and most talked-about visitor attraction. Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein opened in summer 2021, an immersive museum spread across four floors of a Bath townhouse. It welcomed over 24,000 visitors in its first year.
Wedding Venue of the Year
Gold: The Roman Baths & Pump Room
Finally, a big win for the Roman Baths, and a prestigious prize at that! On its website, the venue says:
“The Roman Baths and Pump Room is a unique wedding venue, where couples can exchange vows in one of the world’s greatest ancient monuments. Ceremonies take place beside the steaming Great Bath, with a choice of reception venues including the grand Pump Room.”
