Plan your visit to the Enchanted Garden of Light at Bath’s American Museum

9 November 2022

Alongside the world-famous Bath Christmas Market, another fantastic festive tradition in the city is getting ready to open its doors this December.

If you love a snow-dusted light show, you’ll love the Enchanted Garden of Light at the American Museum & Gardens. It’s an after-dark light show like no other, a trail of gloriously colourful lights spread throughout the house, gardens and surrounding woodland.

This twinkling trail of illuminations is officially open to the public from 1st December 2022. It will then be open from 4pm to 9pm every weekend until the new year. You can visit on the following dates:

  • Thurs 1st December to Sun 4th December
  • Thurs 8th December to Sun 11th December
  • Thurs 15th December to Sat 24th December
  • Tues 27th December to Sat 31st December.

What’s new for 2022?

If you visited in 2021 for the first ever Enchanted Garden of Light at the museum, be prepared for plenty of surprises this year.

The trail is bigger, better and more exciting than ever. You can expect mesmerising light tunnels and sparkling reindeer guiding you along a brand new one mile walking trail. Collect a lantern at the start of the trail, which will light your way along the atmospheric route.

There’s a cosy new Colorado Lodge meeting point for friends and family, where you can tuck into a fantastic choice of festive food and warming drinks. This includes everything from spiced apple drinks, mulled wine and indulgent hot chocolates, right through to hot dogs, gourmet burgers, roasted chestnuts and homemade mince pies.

There’s even a fabulous pop-up Christmas shopping experience, with a New York-inspired Christmas store to browse for gifts and decorations. This is open from 8th November, so you can visit for a spot of Christmas shopping even before the illuminations open to the public.
