Where to get the best steak in Bath

Looking for the best steak in Bath? You’ll be spoilt for choice, as the city is home to a number of highly regarded steakhouses. Here are just a few of our favourites:

Graze

Nestled next to the train station, Graze is a popular restaurant and microbrewery with a newly launched steakhouse menu. You can take your pick from a mouth-watering steaks and chops, along with seasonal specials, bistro classics and lighter bites. A highlight here has to be the dry aged steak, cooked to perfection in a scorching hot Josper charcoal oven. 

And if you have any room left, Graze also offers a fabulous pudding selection. 

Stay at our Southcot Hideaway townhouse and you’ll be just across the river from the restaurant. 

Green Park Brasserie

If you want a side of buzzing atmosphere and live music along with your steak, head to Green Park Brasserie. It’s a specialist steakhouse and jazz bar, serving up a choice selection of special cuts from local suppliers Newton Farm and Tunley Farm Butchers. There’s sometimes even a dedicated steak frites menu, available at certain times from Wed to Sat. Check the Green Park Brasserie website for details.

The Herd Steak Restaurant

Receiving top ratings from TripAdvisor reviewers, the Herd Steak Restaurant prides itself on its succulent British steaks and outstanding wine list. Its meat is carefully aged and locally sourced, consisting of Aberdeen Angus and Hereford Crosses. 

The menu features all the classics, including a rather special Porterhouse, along with a choice of other starters, small plates, mains and puddings. 

If you want to stay so close you can almost smell the steak searing on the grill, stay at our fabulous Argyle Riverview Flat. It’s right next to the restaurant, with views of the river and the famous Pulteney Bridge.   

Hudson Steakhouse

Located in a stylish converted Victorian pub between Walcot and Camden, Hudson Steakhouse specialises in prime dry-aged steaks. All meat is sourced from a farm-assured cooperative in Staffordshire, and includes both Angus and Limousin beef. 

The menu includes cuts such as centre cut sirloin, marbled rib eye and prime fillet, served with béarnaise sauce. It also serves some classic dishes, including a Hudson chuck steak and short rib cheese burger. 

Take a seat in the upstairs grill room and you can even watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen, while enjoying views over the park. 

Stay at our Camden Crescent, Hill House or No 14 properties and you’ll be within a short stroll of the Hudson Steakhouse. 

Miller & Carter Bath

Last but not least is Miller & Carter Bath, part of a national chain of popular steakhouses. Its menu features sustainably raised, grass-fed beef, including hand-cut 30-day aged British and Irish steak. You can choose from a huge choice of cuts, from ribeye and rump to fillet and sirloin on the bone. 

And for special occasions, you can splash out on the Miller’s Côte de Boeuf Experience. This includes a 28oz steak, sides (including truffle-infused mac & cheese) and a bottle of Argentinian Malbec for two to share.
