Hot Air Balloon Rides in Bath – A Guide
22 June 2018There aren’t many things more romantic than a hot air balloon ride, especially when floating serenely over a city as beautiful as Bath. Not only do you get to see all of the stunning Georgian and Palladian architecture from a completely new perspective, but you can also enjoy the countryside surrounding the city – seeing for miles around.
Can you ride hot air balloons in Bath?
Yes! There are quite a few companies running hot air balloon rides in Bath, so you’ll have lots of choice. Here are a handful of your options, so you can start planning your special surprise:
- Bath Balloons. A family-run company that has been flying hot air balloons in Bath since 1988, and now works with neighbouring company Bristol Balloons. Bath Balloons rides take off from Royal Victoria Park and flights are scheduled 7 days a week, almost every day of the year. You can choose from private or shared rides, with an exclusive champagne flight for two coming in at around £295 per person. Booking early is recommended, although you can book 3-4 weeks ahead.
- Bailey Balloons. Another company which launches its Bath hot air balloon flights from Royal Victoria Park, Bailey Balloons offers a number of options to suit every budget. It specialises in those extra-special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries and proposals, although you can take to the skies with their Special Offer Gold Voucher for just £135 a person.
- Virgin Balloon Flights. Virgin offer one of the cheapest ways to get into the skies above Bath, at just £117 per person including a champagne toast and gift wallet. However, you will need to share your 3-4 hour balloon experience with up to 14 other people. If you’re after something more private, opt for a sunrise experience for two (£249 per person) or even a birthday surprise gift package (£129 per person).
Glass of fizz? Why not?
Most of the companies offering balloon rides in Bath include a glass of champagne as part of the price, although you can also book super-romantic luxury packages which include photos, chocolates and even more fizz. If you’re planning to pop the question during your flight, these are the packages to go for!
When’s the best time for hot air ballooning in Bath?
Experts recommend taking to the air shortly after sunrise or a couple of hours before sunset. This is when conditions are ideal for the balloon, but each company will have their own flight times so you should be able to find one to suit.
