On Sunday 12^th June, Bath will join in the nationwide celebrations for the Queen’s 90^th birthday by holding a spectacular garden party in its beautiful and blooming Parade Gardens.

Bath is teaming up with the city of London to host joint celebrations for the Queen’s birthday, after being asked to throw a party by the team organising the capital city’s main party – the Patron Lunch. The event is not only a celebration of the monarchy however, but also a celebration of all that Bath has to offer. It aims to raise money for local charities, bring small and independent Bath businesses to the fore and of course, provide members of the public with a fantastic day out.

What’s on?

There is lots for both Bath residents and summer holidaymakers to look forward to, all packed into one day of hopefully sun-kissed fun and entertainment. Organisers are planning live music performed by local bands and artists on the park’s famous bandstand, entertainment for children including a bouncy castle and face painting, plus charity stalls raising money for their causes. Of course, there will also be plenty to eat and drink, with local chefs and food and drink stallholders feeding the masses – hopefully with fresh produce from the Bath area – throughout the day.

Organiser Michael Norton, Conservative councillor for Lyncombe, explained to the Bath Chronicle in his own words what the event will be all about:

“It’s a celebration, to raise money for local charities and to do something for the community. It will be a family event and child friendly.”

“It’s a milestone. The party will be going on alongside the national celebrations and people love to celebrate these types of things so Bath shouldn’t miss out.”

“It’s about local businesses, local music and for everyone to have a great day. This is an opportunity to do something locally for the people, local businesses and charities.”

When and where

The fun and games all kick off on Sunday 12^th June in Parade Gardens, a majestic park in the very centre of the city. The riverside park offers amazing views of Pulteney Bridge and of course, the River Avon, as well as boasting some of the finest bedding displays in the country – making the Parade Gardens well worth a visit even when it’s not home to a summer garden party.

If you’re new to the city, you’ll find the Parade Gardens at the end of York Street, just a few minutes away from the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey. If you’re considering Bath Holiday Rentals for your accommodation, both No 10 and the Argyle Riverview Flat are both within very easy reach of the park.

The park can only hold about 2,000 people, so organisers are advising that you snap up your tickets (£10 per adult, but under 12s go free) very quickly to avoid disappointment. It’s looking set to be a fantastic summer in Bath!
