Tucked inside a handsome Georgian Terrace that flanks the famous Royal Crescent in the centre of Bath, is large, quiet and contemporary apartment that ranges over 3 floors, comfortably accommodating 4 (and up to 6) people. The house has impressive period features and contemporary flair, resulting in a stylish, comfortable and welcoming home. It`s a great place to have a soiree of family and friends and indulge in some follies of your own. Awarded 5 stars by the British Tourist Board.
The grand entrance leads down a broad staircase to the apartment below which begins slightly above garden level. A paneled entrance lobby is open to a lovely large kitchen/ diner on one side and a spacious, elegant living room with garden views on the other.
Rich cream and gold draped curtains in the living room highlight
the lofty ceiling and intricate cornicing. There is a large `L`-shaped cream leather sofa and armchair in front of a huge decorative stone fireplace. For entertainment, there is a large TV with DVD, and a paneled bookshelf with a radio, CD player, i-pod docking and a good selection of books and DVD`s. Steps lead up to French doors to your private sun-deck that overlooks the Neighbours pretty garden. The view takes in tidy allotments and mature beech trees of the Royal Victoria Park and in fine weather; you can watch hot-air balloons taking flight. There is an outdoor table and chairs to seat 6.
High ceilings, tall sash windows and another huge decorative stone fire-place feature in this fully fitted contemporary cream kitchen. Glamorous marble worktops and cupboards well stocked with desirable cookware and utensils will inspire your culinary inclinations. A central island has a 5 ring gas hob and there is a double oven, a microwave, a large fridge and separate freezer and a dishwasher. It is a great entertaining space, with a dining table and chairs to seat 6.
A small oak staircase from the kitchen leads to a mezzanine bedroom which the young and adventurous will adore. Two windows overlook the living room and garden and a tented ceiling lends a romantic air. The super king bed is on a raised platform with 3 steps at the foot to get in. There is a wardrobe and chest of drawers.
The smart, spacious master bedroom downstairs is at garden level with two sash windows framed by dressy green curtains. It has a super king leather bed with a TV built in. A wall of fitted wardrobes has plenty of drawers and hanging rails and there is a separate dressing table. The en-suite is trimmed with sea green glass mosaic tiles and has a corner shower with rainfall shower head, a hand basin with storage over and WC.
Also at this level is a family bathroom with a bath (with shower handset) a hand basin with storage over and a WC.
Down a flight of oak steps is the final double bedroom. It is very spacious with a king-size bed, fitted wardrobes with plenty of shelves, drawers and hanging rails, a dressing table and TV. Two shuttered and prettily draped windows look into a small sealed courtyard below garden level.
It`s a short stroll to the shopping centre and there are many historic buildings, museums and galleries to explore nearby, as well as great restaurants, bars and cafes. It was the centre of fashionable life in 18th century Bath and an ideal location from which to explore today. You can enjoy a performance at the Theatre Royal, relax in the hot waters of the Thermae Spa, spend the evening at the Komedia, comedy club or participate in a number of music and literary festivals. The beautiful Royal Victoria Gardens has a fine botanical garden, covered tennis courts, crazy golf, a huge adventure park for children and a compact 18 hole golf course (The Approach Golf Course) with lovely views of Bath and the surrounding hills.
At the top of Marlborough Buildings is Marlborough Tavern, a gastro pub. Around the corner at St. James Square you`ll find good local amenities; a newsagents, chemists, coffee shop, Italian deli, organic grocery store and florist.
At Margaret`s buildings there are restaurants and gorgeous boutiques. The nearest supermarket is Waitrose in the city centre. A permit is available for one car to be parked on the street in a designated zone, alternatively, the bus or train station are a 15 minute walk.
